At the delicate boundary between land and sea, a unique natural ecosystem thrives, capturing a staggering 50 times more carbon than rainforests. Salt marshes, present in over 100 countries, act as nature’s shield against rising sea levels and provide a crucial habitat for diverse ecosystems. However, this extraordinary natural treasure is on the brink of extinction by 2100, with catastrophic implications for our planet. They need our protection. There is an opportunity to act now.
Salt of the Earth is a global awareness campaign to protect the salt marshes with a transformative artistic encounter that premiered during the Venice Film Festival, September 2024. Spanning performance, film and sound this ambitious live multimedia installation was created by artist anddirector Sophie Hunter, leading a team of acclaimed creative team. We seek to make climate emergencies resonate personally and collectively and foster a sense of shared responsibility to take preventative action. At the heart of this work is a belief that storytelling is a powerful force for inciting and inspiring change.
